One More Time

Since I am cutting myself off cold-turkey in 2010 from shopping, I did a last time binge to stock up on some basics.

Nothing too much, just a few items .... lol

Where else to go for some cheap basics than Target? (Just basics, I already raided the Rodarte Go International Line, more on that later.)

And the clearances were glorious! on tees, on jackets, on sweaters, on shoes and on accessories.

I picked out a few things and even made a trip to the fitting room. I usually HATE fitting rooms. I'm much more buy, try it on at home and then return. And Yes, sometimes I forget to return, I get busy or just plain lazy. Receipts pile up and unworn clothes with tags stay in the back of my closet.

What I came out with:

2 white tees

1 black tee

2 pairs of leggings (I've never done leggings, they were always a little too 80's for me, but the point here is to be daring and creative.)

1 red sweater (soooo comfy and soft, suprising find at Target?!)

The same sweater as above but in Gray

1 pair of skinny jeans. The trick to finding good skinny jeans whether at Target, Gap or Banana Republic is the FIT. They have to be Tightttttt, but not so tight they give you that infamous Muffin Top. And they have to be in a nice dark wash, unless you are 5'10" and weight 95 pounds.

2 pairs of earrings-big and ostentatious, how I usually like my earrings :-D

andddd a pair of pointy-toe leopard print flats!

I already own a pair of leopard print flats (Jessica Simpson with the square toe) but I'm the type that believes if you truly LOVE a style, you should stock up on it. In high school I would shy away from pointy toe shoes or flats in general because I thought I had big feet (I'm a size 7.5-9, depending on the brand,) so I've come a long way to not be afraid to draw ALL the attention to my feet. I can't wait to style these with some professional as well as casual outfits.

All this and not too much damage to my debit card. A good way to transition to the New Year.

And an example of some flashy earrings from Target

A Year Without Shopping-Is That Possible?!!

I love fashion. I admit it.

And I like to express my love through shopping.

I'm not a shopaholic, no...although I can find a 'Find' almost anywhere

But lately I've been feeling ridiculous....maybe it's the recession or maybe it's because I have pieces that I don't even remember buying...

And I just feel so damn guilty for not appreciating my clothes to their FULLEST potential.

So I thought to myself, as a New Year's Resolution for 2010

I WON'T SHOP FOR A WHOLE YEAR!

Instead, I'll shop my own closet, my wardrobe. As women, we are always trying to build the 'perfect' wardrobe. That black dress, those perfect trousers that make you look 9 feet tall, the sexy party stilettos...and before you know it, you have a closet just for shoes and purses, trends from 3 years ago and piles of accessories. We basically want our closet to resemble Carrie Bradshaw's from SATC, with Dior boxes peeking from the top of our shelves, but that's a Fantasy.
The reality is we all live on a limited budget with a set life style and by learning how to fully utilize the pieces in our wardrobe we can all look a lot more fabulous AND save a whole lot of Moola.

Stay tune, I'll post the rules next ;-)
